It's the old Vic but on a new site. This site is totally about the heart.
Why am I doing this? It's because my fingers missed the feel of the keyboard early on a fall morning with the smell of coffee on the way. I'm not surprised. I knew back in July when I retired I would do something like this. You don't do something for 45 years and then completely abandon it. I needed to be weened off the laptop. First, I needed to get a new site and the requisite equipment. I also got an LLC, so don't bother suing because this site has no assets.
I'm doing this because I love football, especially the NFL, and because I love you. You, my loyal readers, made my retirement possible. I hope those of you who read my blog will feel my love for you and a sense of reward.
The whole thing is being done on the cheap, of course. The LLC cost $135. The domain name cost $12. There will be no financial gain for me, unless you know of a way to assign a dollar value to joy. I don't. Joy is invaluable, especially at my age.
So, after retiring from packers.com, I began laying the groundwork to this site, the launch of which was delayed by shoulder surgery in August. Yes, I am the world's unhealthiest man. This is the first I've been able to lift my left hand onto the keyboard.
OK, here we go.
You can expect commentary on all things football, pro and college. I'm not completely sure what you can expect because I'm gonna let it rip. My high school coach was fond of saying, "What are you saving it for, Ketchman, the prom?" My prom days are over.
The column will appear every Monday following a Packers game. If the Packers play on Monday night, the column will appear on Tuesday; Thursday game, Friday morning.
I'm kind of fired up about this because I already have some strong opinions I want to share with you. One of them, of course, is about this national anthem flap. I'm angry.
So, I hope you'll join me on Friday for my thoughts on Thursday night's Bears-Packers game, and more.
